Miley Cyrus to quit showbusiness
After being painfully dogged by the press of her consistent appearance in racy photos for Myspace/Facebook as well as her now infamous semi-topless shot in the June 2008 edition of Vanity Fair, Miley Cyrus is fed up with showbiz. The fifteen year old Hannah Montana star has told a co-star she is ‘hurting’ and wants to quit the business after she received global criticism over the Vanity Fair debacle.
Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, who plays Miley’s sidekick Ashley Dewitt on the hit Disney show says,
“Sometimes I’ll talk to her on the phone and she’ll be like, “It’s really hard” or “I’m really tired. I can’t do this….It really hurt her inside. She didn’t know that people would look at it like that.”

Sydney Pollack dies of cancer at 73
Oscar-winning director Sydney Pollack has died of cancer. He was 73. Pollack died on Monday (26May08) at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles following a ten month battle with the deadly disease.
Pollack won critical acclaim and two Academy Awards for his epic romance Out Of Africa starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. The 1985 movie garnered a staggering 11 nominations and won seven including Best Picture.
While best remembered as a director, Pollack started out as an actor and continued to perform throughout his career – most recently appearing alongside George Clooney in last year’s (07) Oscar-winning picture Michael Clayton.

Britney Spears reportedly has a new man in her life.
Britney Spears made her first formal public appearance in months at the 50th birthday party of fashion mogul Christian Audigier, where she was spotted with Jason Trewick.
Trewick, according to sources, has known Britney for years; and the singer’s dad, Jamie Spears, has been telling friends he is a “stabilizing influence” on his daughter.
