Hello,
I am going to see the Boston Red Sox in San Diego this June, and I was going to take the amtrax train from Burbank. What station is the closest to Petco Park?

Amtrak to Santa Fe depot at foot of Broadway where you
transfer to trolley that goes directly to Petco
If you are comming from Hollywood, I would take the Metro Red Line to Union Station. This will give you more options than taking a train from Burbank. From Union Station you can take either Amtrak, or the Orange County Metrolink train.
The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner will take you all the way to Downtown San Diego, if you take the Metrolink you need to transfer to the Coaster in Oceanside.
Once in San Diego you just go across the street to pick up the Trolley and get off right at PetCo Park. The station you will want to get off on is the Gaslamp Quarter Station, don’t worry about missing it, there will be several other baseball fans getting off at the same time.
I don’t know if you are going to a Day or Night game but know that the Trains do not run 24 hrs a day back up to LA. The last train out of Downtown San Diego is 8:20pm on Weeknights or 9:15 on Friday/Sat/Sun. They do have a late night route that is by bus that leaves at 10pm every day. So for the night game you may find it better to plan to stay overnight.
There’s one “small” problem in your plan: The Red Sox will not be playing the Padres in 2010, according to Padres.com. Seattle, Toronto, and Baltimore will be the A.L. opponents in S.D. this coming season.
