  1. All of you need to stop. The Brits survived the blitz and held the German Airforce to a stalemate. Russians Fought house to house in Stalingrad. And dont even get me started on Australia in the Pacific.
THE ALLIES won the war. were we the US a large part of it? sure, but I don’t negate the contributions of our Allies, who held on while we tried to gear up.

  2. Im British .
Britain and its allied nations fought the war incurring massive casualties and massive costs , The Nazi’s (not Germany) incurred the same .
America stood on the sidelines until the whole world had exhausted exhausted itself , there was no money and no men left for the final push towards victory on either side .
Then and only then did America step in as fresh as a daisy with a huge arsenal and unlimited men to take the victory others had fought and died for .
Regardless of this America undoubtedly won the war and i will salute America for its timely intervention and for choosing the right side .

  3. There is no way America could have won WWII by themselves, Hitler’s army was to big for one nation to take down. It was an ally effort that included Britain, Canada, USA, USSR, Australia, etc to take down Hitler. Don’t believe anything Hollywood movies tell you, they live in a fantasy world of make believe.

  4. Hollywood is not America – it is in business to make money, many British actors make a lot of money here also.
We are allies, please stop your pettiness. My brother was killed in WW2 and he was from Scotland.
Instead of this rant why didn’t all of Britain get together and demand that the Queen be invited to Normandy – she has more right to be there than Obama or Gordon Brown. She drove a truck in WW2 and tended to wounded soldiers. Get a real cause to believe in
I am not a royalist by any means but right is right
Regards from USA – not Hollywood or Disney

  5. I have no great love for the USA but I do feel we always feel ‘we are more intelligent/fair/responsible’
There HAVE been glaring cases of Hollywood portraying the Americans as wining the war, but we are just as guilty of propaganda and putting ourselves in a good and false light in our history.
I feel we stand in danger of painting all of the ordinary American citizens with the same brush, just as we now paint all of the muslims that way…
Look at the answers and questions on this site..Many do not take a balanced or considered approach..

  6. I would say that US industrial might was the main factor in the allies winning WW2. The US did not comit troops to the effort before Pearl Harbor but was certainly involved. In many opinions FDR violated the constitution with the Lend/Lease Act and in his support of the UK. I can understand why he did so. I have difficulty in seeing a good outcome for the UK without US involvement, the UK just does not have the manpower or the industrial capability to defeat the germans. The US had a tremendous amount of resources which tipped the war in the allies favor.

  7. Hollywood is guilty of a slight on the many American troops who gave their lives but the British film makers are just as bad with their repeated quotes of “England stood alone” and such like. Many soldiers from all over the U.K. were standing there with them so it’s rather hypocritical to criticise the USA until we sort ourselves out!
The biggest joke in this whole D-Day celebrations fiasco are the French government as many French people really appreciate the help they received from Britain. France, by ignoring the UK head of state are trying to change history far more than the USA.

  8. Slightly Dark Francis

This is hardly groundbreaking. Yes, we know that many other countries fought bravely and fiercely in World War 2, we also know that the Americans founded a good chunk of their success on the first two years prior to Pearl Harbor…but let’s be honest. If the Americans HADN’T entered the war, do you think the outcome would have been as good?

  9. Hollywood and Walt Disney dose not always get there facts right and you should know that!…also it was many people from all different walks of life and from many countries around the world that fought in the second world war. Learn from history and get your facts right.

  10. So unbelieveable that movies produced in America might have a slight pro-American spin to them…
Jesus, Brits, get your panties out of a bunch. No one’s denying your role in WWII.
It only took us 2 years and 4 months to get in because, lo and behold, WE WEREN’T ATTACKED YET. Sorry if you missed that Pearl Harbor thing; it was a real blast on our end.

  11. Major General Tank

Yes it only took them 2 years and 4 months to come into the war. Well done lads!
*There was nothing surprising about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Even a schoolboy could have figured that attack was coming..

i dont trust hollywood and history is usually written by the winners

  13. I totally agree. This is why I watch Bollywood movies, and this is why I am a fan of King Khan and the Big B.
    Enjoy!

  14. darwinsfriend3 AM

Many Americans get their history lessons direct from Hollywood.

  15. Never again. Americans should never die for Western Europe again.
We never hear the end of it …

  16. Yulia Tymoshenko for President

Dude, are you just trying to encourage anti-American feelings?

  17. haha…..The problem is that they’re are some people who believe that this notion is not far from the truth

  18. I agree. I have seen all the war films with John Wayne and Hollywood is right. The cowardly British just hid until it was all over.
