Studios, cable closer to home movie deals: sources
Hollywood studios are getting closer to a deal to make new movies available to cable and satellite TV operators like Time Warner Cable and DirecTV as early as 30 to 60 days after their theatrical debuts, for a premium price.

Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson kissed last night at the MTV Movie Awards after the former won some made-up award. It was pretty awesome.
Let’s skip the babbling and get to it:
Scarlett Johansson and Sandra Bullock kiss. Wow.
Johansson’s kiss from Bullock, who made her first public appearance since her split with Jesse James the night before, came after she won the MTV Generation Award.
Defining the Generation Award as something that goes to “old people,” who are clearing out to make way for younger ones, Bullock said “That’s not going to happen. “
“I’m staying. Because no matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do. And I’m not going anywhere. ” We couldn’t be happier to hear it!
The award was presented by Scarlett, Sandra’s All About Steve co-star Bradley Cooper and Betty White. “This is so weird,” Sandra said. “Scarlett, why are you here?”
Johansson then replied, “I’m here because [my husband Ryan Reynolds] couldn’t be here and I wanted to be here when you accepted your award for Best Kiss. ”
Sandra: “We didn’t win that. ” Scarlett: “I thought if you did win, it would be really sweet and soft. . . ” OH YEAH! Cue girl-on-girl action! Britney and Madonna who?!

Following last year’s successful transition away from the High School Musical franchise (with 17 Again), Zac Efron takes another step forward in his adult movie career this summer.
The young heatthrob stars as the title character in Charlie St. Cloud, a drama based on a popular 2004 novel.
In the film, the 22-year-old boyfriend of Vanessa Hudgens portrays a young man who gains special powers after surviving a serious accident: he can communicate with his late brother.
Amanda Crew, Kim Basinger and Ray Liotta also star in the movie, which hits theaters on July 30.
This role may be quite the departure from High School Musical, but don’t worry: Efron brings the same hotness as always to the screen.

Let’s get one thing straight: Kristen Stewart is not miserable!
She makes that important point in the latest issue of Elle, and she recently shared another reason why she’s actually happier than ever: the actress has landed a key new movie role.
“I am very much attached to a movie that has been trying to get made forever. . . maybe I can just brag a little bit. I am super excited about it, too. I am about to play Marylou in On the Road. So that’s a big deal,” she told USA Today this week.
The film will be based on Jack Kerouac’s classic 1957 novel, which tells the tale of disaffected members of the Beat Generation.
Garrett Hedland and Sam Riley are also attached to the project.
In other semi-Stewart news: the name Isabella is officially the most popular baby name in the country. This is a clear sign that people love The Twilight Saga, and also might need to seek professional help.

Might Jesse James truly be one of the biggest idiots on the planet?
While we rarely buy into tabloid fodder, we have a new reason to believe this week’s In Touch Weekly report that states James has been cheating on Sanda Bullock with tattoo model Michelle McGee.
Earlier today, the actress bailed on the London premiere of The Blind Side, which is slated for Tuesday. In a statement from Warner Brothers UK, Bullock says:
“Due to unforeseen personal reasons, a trip abroad to support The Blind Side has been deemed impossible at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued support of the film. “
We hope we’re wrong, but not exactly the words of someone with a strong marriage, are they?
Bullock, one of the most beloved stars on the planet, took home the Oscar for Best Actress at this month’s Academy Awards and brought James to tears during her acceptance speech.
“I’m so proud of her,” he said after the show “She deserves it more than anybody. “
We’ll keep our eyes on this story as it breaks, but one more point of interest: James has canceled his Twitter account. Make of that what you will. . . and prepare to toilet paper James’ house if rumors of his infidelity are true.
