Back in prehistoric times when I was in high school, the cheerleaders and their jock boyfriends were 1. better looking than average, 2. less successful academically than average, and 3. more aggressive than average. They also were the ones who got married earlier, never left town, and a couple of decades later are by and large stuck in fairly mediocre employment, though they have often amassed a lot of stuff.
So I have no idea why those types were dominant then, but they definitely aren’t anymore. In the adult world intellect and creativity are valued; in high school they’re scary, and mediocrity is safe and therefore desirable.

Oxygen plays it on marathon mode alot. I will only understand why and never complain about it if there many people that love it to warrant all that air time. Just to see what the big deal was I watched 2 episodes in a row and got so nauseous! what does Mrs. Dean Spelling do for a living anyway? Why is such an inane show so popular? Her father is probably spinning in his grave!
