They all claim that they don’t gossip, or that they try not to, but honestly! The things I hear from my husband and his mother (and other members)! It’s like a soap opera!! “Such and such said this, and such and such did that”.
Does anybody else experience this in their church? I personally don’t have that in mine……………. Is this an ‘evangelical’ thing?! (The older members also chase away the younger members by telling them that their clothes aren’t nice enough, or that “the young folk go to the Church down the road”.) Is this only happening in his church??!

That is what has happened to many of our churches and unfortunately I have to ask myself Do they really have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
Confront this problem I believe if the Lord gives you strong feelings against something it is our duty not to strug it off and do the “polite” nodding in the gossip circle .You need to go to this church and if they begin to fill you in on all the gossip and such, the one comment that will stop them in their tracks… ” I am sorry but I prefer to look at everyone through the eyes of Christ”
sounds like the baptist church I grew up in, what a bunch of vile caustic people they had, it’s no wonder I’ve left christianity.
There are lots of churches that aren’t like that. I think you’re husband and his mother must like all the gossip. If they didn’t, they would have found a nicer group of people to go to church with. And any church that tells young people to, go to the church down the road, is doomed. Churches can’t grow without young energetic people.

They lack the second most important thing the Bible talks about. ” you must love your neighbor as yourself ” If all people reguardless of their faith did this there would be no wars,famine,murder,theft,adultery etc.
The first most important thing is that you must love God with your whole heart mind and soul.
Yah actually. The last church I was in failed because the people were like the devil himself or something! My mother actually got very hurt from a lot of those gossipy “church” people. It isn’t right, and it isn’t okay. True people of God don’t do things to eachother that are hurtful, and that God says DON’T DO! Like telling the younger people they don’t belong because their clothes aren’t nice enough? Would God say that? Absolutely not! Maybe your husband should find a different church. One that is about Jesus and not looking good just because it’s a “church”.
It’s probably more exciting than, you know, reading a bible.
